Overview

The iPad 2 has been unveiled and will be available for purchase on March 11, 2011. There has been much speculation and questions surrounding this launch because of the recent competition the iPad has faced. The Samsung Galaxy Tab and Motorola Xoom have offered alternatives to the iPad, but have not been able to match the iPad prices or capabilities. The announcement had an unexpected guest when Steve Jobs returned from a medical leave to unveil the newest product. NYTimes reports that much of the attention was focused on his return rather than on the new iPad. The newest version is said to be thinner and faster than its predecessor. More specifically, the new device is 8 millimeters thick which is slightly smaller that the iPhone 4.
iPad 2 has a new chip designed by Apple called A5. This chip was designed for speed and graphics and it has been successful because the iPad2 he graphics are supposed to be nine times as fast as the original. The iPad 2 will be available in either white or black, and feature two cameras allowing for video chats. In order to keep the iPad 2 as thin and practical as possible there is a new screen protector that is magnetic and available in a number of colors. The screen protection can be used as a stand without sacrificing the new lighter weight product. Perhaps, one of the most impressive features of the iPad 2 is that the batteries will hold a charge up to ten hours.
iPad 2 is announced as having practical applications for the business and education professions and they are demonstrated in these links and associated videos. (education and buisness)
